Myth: Forgotten Legends
Our flagship game. In Myth: Forgotten Legends, you are a Myth; an ordinary person suddenly imbued with the power of a legendary god, folk hero, mythical beast, or something altogether darker. Set in our world and the parallel “Otherside”, you have to balance your mortal life against the fantastical adventures or else the legend that has imbued you will take over completely.
The game blends fantastical, narrative-driven adventure with the texture of everyday life. Your character has rent to pay and a family who worries about them, and also the power of a Mayan river deity or an English folk hero. Your character is that tension, existing where the mundane meets the myth.
the power of stories
In Myth: Forgotten Narratives, stories hold real power, called Paethos. This force of nature rewards dramatic arcs, narrative progression, and actions that reinforce your personal story. It’s where your legend draws its power from, and the dominant force in the fantastical Otherside. As a mortal of the waking world, however, you can push back against Paethos, exerting your will to work against predetermined plots and craft your own narrative.

- Deus are ancient gods who long for worship once again, ruling over a divine domain and struggling to keep their connections to the mundane.
- Heroes bring their mortal pillars along for the adventure and hope not to become the villain in their own story.
- Grimvolk are folk myths and urban legends, deeply connected to their communities and struggling to play by the rules.
- Shades live in the shadows of humanity’s story, knowing that worse things than them go bump in the night.
- Echidians embrace the mighty mythical beasts they embody, and strive not to give in to their worst natures.
…but don’t forget your everyday hero
The mortal side of your character is just as important as your legend. Human resolve lets you push back against Paethos’ narrative forces by “editing” the story in real time. Create flashbacks, plot twists, and take control of the story, directing it in a direction of your choosing.
Instead of “stats”, your mortal has 12 pillars that make up the most important parts of their lives. Desires, Talents, Traits, personal Connections and even your job all make up your Pillars that determine your abilities in-game. But be careful, each power your legend gains replaces a pillar as aspects of your everyday life fade away… permanently if you are not careful.
Unique mechanics
Myth’s elegant game rules give you incredible in-game freedom. Your character can do anything their backstory determines they could… and if they can’t: roll the dice on Fate and Fortune to achieve the unlikely… with a chance of the unexpected.
This freedom extends to your powers, where our flexible system lets you create exactly what you need to embody your chosen legend. Don’t worry if that sounds overwhelming; the game has hundreds of example powers you can choose from.
