A Myth is more than an ancient legend or story. It is a normal person that some half-forgotten tale has chosen to embody, opening up to them a world of adventure and spectacular powers. The legend is not doing this to be helpful. It seeks to reestablish itself in humanity’s consciousness, becoming, perhaps again, more than a mere myth.
When your character becomes a Myth, a whole new world will open up to them. Narrative forces will pull you into adventures, and a parallel world called Otherside will let you live out fantastic stories.
Being a Myth is not all adventure though. A constant balance is needed to keep your legend in check. Each power you gain subsumes part of your mortal side, and if you are not careful your legend will take you over completely.
Those who can master or work with their legend are able to access powers and abilities normal people could only dream of. There are many examples of Myths using the powers of their legend to achieve great things, leaving their indelible mark on history. Their mythic powers are repeated as tall tales or exaggerations, but with the same beats recurring each time. Eventually they may become a Legend as their story is repeated enough, possibly replacing the Myth that granted them power to begin with. Thus the cycle continues: new legends are born, old legends are forgotten, but the stories remain.
The desire of every legend is for their actions in the waking world to reignite true belief in humanity. This is no easy feat and will take centuries in most cases, but it is possible to ascend from being just a myth to one of mankind’s core beliefs.
